Markus Armbruster 9af2398977 Include less of the generated modular QAPI headers
In my "build everything" tree, a change to the types in
qapi-schema.json triggers a recompile of about 4800 out of 5100
objects.

The previous commit split up qmp-commands.h, qmp-event.h, qmp-visit.h,
qapi-types.h. Each of these headers still includes all its shards.
Reduce compile time by including just the shards we actually need.

To illustrate the benefits: adding a type to qapi/migration.json now
recompiles some 2300 instead of 4800 objects. The next commit will
improve it further.

Markus Armbruster 922a01a013 Move include qemu/option.h from qemu-common.h to actual users
qemu-common.h includes qemu/option.h, but most places that include the
former don't actually need the latter. Drop the include, and add it

While there, drop superfluous includes of both headers, and

Jindrich Makovicka 849bbe6035 sdl2: Ignore UI hotkeys after a focus change when GUI modifier is held
When SDL2 windows change focus while a key is held, the window that
receives the focus also receives a new KeyDown event, without an
autorepeat flag. This means that if a WM places the qemu console
over the main window after Ctrl-Alt-2, the console closes immediately
after opening. Then, the main window receives the KeyDown event again
and the whole process repeats.

This patch makes the SDL2 UI ignore the KeyDown events on a window that
just received the focus, if the GUI modifier was held. The ignore flag
is reset on a first KeyUp event. This effectively works around the issue
above.

Gerd Hoffmann 0eb50c2737 egl-helpers: add egl_texture_blit and egl_texture_blend
egl_texture_blit() blits a texture, simliar to egl_fb_blit() but by
rendering the texture to the screen instead of using a framebuffer blit.

egl_texture_blend() renders a texture with alpha blending, will be used
to render the cursor to the screen.

This patch adds support for dma-bufs to the qemu console interfaces.
It adds a new "struct QemuDmaBuf" to represent a dmabuf with accociated

DisplayChangeListenerOps operations) to set a dma-buf as display

Daniel P. Berrange bcd5ac9bcb ui: convert common input code to keycodemapdb
Replace the number_to_qcode, qcode_to_number and linux_to_qcode
tables with automatically generated tables.

Missing entries in linux_to_qcode now fixed:

  KEY_LINEFEED -> Q_KEY_CODE_LF
  KEY_KPEQUAL -> Q_KEY_CODE_KP_EQUALS
  KEY_COMPOSE -> Q_KEY_CODE_COMPOSE
  KEY_AGAIN -> Q_KEY_CODE_AGAIN
  KEY_PROPS -> Q_KEY_CODE_PROPS
  KEY_UNDO -> Q_KEY_CODE_UNDO
  KEY_FRONT -> Q_KEY_CODE_FRONT
  KEY_COPY -> Q_KEY_CODE_COPY
  KEY_OPEN -> Q_KEY_CODE_OPEN
  KEY_PASTE -> Q_KEY_CODE_PASTE
  KEY_CUT -> Q_KEY_CODE_CUT
  KEY_HELP -> Q_KEY_CODE_HELP
  KEY_MEDIA -> Q_KEY_CODE_MEDIASELECT

In addition, some fixes:

 - KEY_PLAYPAUSE now maps to Q_KEY_CODE_AUDIOPLAY, instead of
   KEY_PLAYCD. KEY_PLAYPAUSE is defined across almost all scancodes
   sets, while KEY_PLAYCD only appears in AT set1, so the former is
   a more useful mapping.

Missing entries in qcode_to_number now fixed:

  Q_KEY_CODE_AGAIN -> 0x85
  Q_KEY_CODE_PROPS -> 0x86
  Q_KEY_CODE_UNDO -> 0x87
  Q_KEY_CODE_FRONT -> 0x8c
  Q_KEY_CODE_COPY -> 0xf8
  Q_KEY_CODE_OPEN -> 0x64
  Q_KEY_CODE_PASTE -> 0x65
  Q_KEY_CODE_CUT -> 0xbc
  Q_KEY_CODE_LF -> 0x5b
  Q_KEY_CODE_HELP -> 0xf5
  Q_KEY_CODE_COMPOSE -> 0xdd
  Q_KEY_CODE_KP_EQUALS -> 0x59
  Q_KEY_CODE_MEDIASELECT -> 0xed

In addition, some fixes:

 - Q_KEY_CODE_MENU was incorrectly mapped to the compose
   scancode (0xdd) and is now mapped to 0x9e
 - Q_KEY_CODE_FIND was mapped to 0xe065 (Search) instead
   of to 0xe041 (Find)
 - Q_KEY_CODE_HIRAGANA was mapped to 0x70 (Katakanahiragana)
   instead of of 0x77 (Hirigana)
 - Q_KEY_CODE_PRINT was mapped to 0xb7 which is not a defined
   scan code in AT set 1, it is now mapped to 0x54 (sysrq)

Gerd Hoffmann bb1599b64c opengl: add egl-headless display
Add egl-headless user interface. It doesn't provide a real user
interface, it only provides opengl support using drm render nodes.
It will copy back the bits rendered by the guest using virgl back
to a DisplaySurface and kick the usual display update code paths,
so spice and vnc and screendump can pick it up.

Use it this way:
  qemu -display egl-headless -vnc $display
  qemu -display egl-headless -spice gl=off,$args

Note that you should prefer native spice opengl support (-spice
gl=on) if possible because that delivers better performance.

Gerd Hoffmann 50628d3479 cirrus/vnc: zap bitblit support from console code.
There is a special code path (dpy_gfx_copy) to allow graphic emulation
notify user interface code about bitblit operations carryed out by
guests. It is supported by cirrus and vnc server. The intended purpose
is to optimize display scrolls and just send over the scroll op instead
of a full display update.

This is rarely used these days though because modern guests simply don't
use the cirrus blitter any more. Any linux guest using the cirrus drm
driver doesn't. Any windows guest newer than winxp doesn't ship with a
cirrus driver any more and thus uses the cirrus as simple framebuffer.

So this code tends to bitrot and bugs can go unnoticed for a long time.
See for example commit "3e10c3e vnc: fix qemu crash because of SIGSEGV"
which fixes a bug lingering in the code for almost a year, added by
commit "c7628bf vnc: only alloc server surface with clients connected".

Also the vnc server will throttle the frame rate in case it figures the
network can't keep up (send buffers are full). This doesn't work with
dpy_gfx_copy, for any copy operation sent to the vnc client we have to
send all outstanding updates beforehand, otherwise the vnc client might
run the client side blit on outdated data and thereby corrupt the
display. So this dpy_gfx_copy "optimization" might even make things
worse on slow network links.

Lets kill it once for all.

Oh, and one more reason: Turns out (after writing the patch) we have a
security bug in that code path ...

Marc-André Lureau 777357d758 chardev: qom-ify
Turn Chardev into Object.

qemu_chr_alloc() is replaced by the qemu_chardev_new() constructor. It
will call qemu_char_open() to open/intialize the chardev with the
ChardevCommon *backend settings.

The CharDriver::create() callback is turned into a ChardevClass::open()
which is called from the newly introduced qemu_chardev_open().

"chardev-gdb" and "chardev-hci" are internal chardev and aren't
creatable directly with -chardev. Use a new internal flag to disable
them. We may want to use TYPE_USER_CREATABLE interface instead, or
perhaps allow -chardev usage.

Although in general we keep typename and macros private, unless the type
is being used by some other file, in this patch, all types and common
helper macros for qemu-char.c are in char.h. This is to help transition
now (some types must be declared early, while some aren't shared) and
when splitting in several units. This is to be improved later.

For builds with Mingw-w64 as it is included in Cygwin, there are two
header files which define KEY_EVENT with different values.

This results in lots of compiler warnings like this one:

                 from /qemu/vl.c:76:

                 from /qemu/include/sysemu/os-win32.h:29,

/usr/share/mingw-w64/include/wincon.h:101:0: note: this is the location of the previous definition
 #define KEY_EVENT 0x1

QEMU only uses the KEY_EVENT macro from wincon.h.
Therefore we can undefine the macro coming from curses.h.

The explicit include statement for curses.h in ui/curses.c is not needed
and was removed.

Those two modifications fix the redefinition warnings.

This switches over spice (in opengl mode) to render DisplaySurface

This should improve performance even using spice (with gl=on) with

Gerd Hoffmann ca58b45fbe ui/virtio-gpu: add and use qemu_create_displaysurface_pixman
Add a the new qemu_create_displaysurface_pixman function, to create
a DisplaySurface backed by an existing pixman image. In that case
there is no need to create a new pixman image pointing to the same
backing storage. We can just use the existing image directly.

This does not only simplify things a bit, but most importantly it
gets the reference counting right, so the backing storage for the
pixman image wouldn't be released underneath us.

Use new function in virtio-gpu, where using it actually fixes
use-after-free crashes.

Re-run scripts/clean-includes to apply the previous commit's

Markus Armbruster da34e65cb4 include/qemu/osdep.h: Don't include qapi/error.h
Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the
Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h
everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into
possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include
any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h,
compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a
similar job to this file and are under similar constraints."
qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to
similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of
100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need.

Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of
qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't
get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List.

Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match
reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h,
sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h
comment quoted above similarly.

This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all
of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on
qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. More work is needed for that one.

Gerd Hoffmann e0d2bd5195 input: linux evdev support
This patch adds support for reading input events directly from linux
evdev devices and forward them to the guest. Unlike virtio-input-host
which simply passes on all events to the guest without looking at them
this will interpret the events and feed them into the qemu input
subsystem.

Therefore this is limited to what the qemu input subsystem and the
emulated input devices are able to handle. Also there is no support for
absolute coordinates (tablet/touchscreen). So we are talking here about
basic mouse and keyboard support.

The advantage is that it'll work without virtio-input drivers in the
guest, the events are delivered to the usual ps/2 or usb input devices
(depending on what the machine happens to have). And for keyboards
qemu is able to switch the keyboard between guest and host on hotkey.
The hotkey is hard-coded for now (both control keys), initialy the
guest owns the keyboard.

Probably most useful when assigning vga devices with vfio and using a
physical monitor instead of vnc/spice/gtk as guest display.

Usage: Add '-input-linux /dev/input/event<nr>' to the qemu command
line.  Note that udev has rules which populate /dev/input/by-{id,path}
with static names, which might be more convinient to use.

Gerd Hoffmann 474114b730 spice: add opengl/virgl/dmabuf support
This adds support for dma-buf passing to spice. This makes virtio-gpu
with 3d acceleration work with spice.

Workflow:
 * virglrenderer renders the guest command stream into a texture.
 * qemu exports the texture as dma-buf and passes on that dma-buf
   to spice-server.
 * spice-server passes the dma-buf to spice-client, using unix
   socket file descriptor passing.
 * spice-client asks the window systems composer to render the
   dma-buf to the screen.

Requires cutting edge spice (server) and spice-gtk (client) builds,
from git master branch.

Also requires libvirt managing your qemu instance, and using
"virt-viewer --attach $guest". libvirt will connect spice-server and
spice-client using unix sockets instead of tcp sockets then, which
is required for file descriptor passing.

Works for the local case (spice server and client on the same machine)
only. Supporting remote too is planned (by feeding the dma-bufs into
gpu-assisted video encoder), but not there yet.

gl mode is turned off by default, use "-spice gl=on,$otherargs" to
enable it.

OGAWA Hirofumi 4083733db5 ui/curses: Fix color attribute of monitor for curses
Current text_console_update() writes totally broken color attributes
to console_write_ch(). The format now is writing,

[WRONG]
	bold << 21 | fg << 12 | bg << 8 | char
	fg == 3bits curses color number
	bg == 3bits curses color number

I can't see this format is where come from. Anyway, this doesn't work
at all.

What curses expects is actually (and vga.c is using),

[RIGHT]
	bold << 21 | bg << 11 | fg << 8 | char
	fg == 3bits vga color number
	bg == 3bits vga color number

And curses set COLOR_PAIR() up to match this format, and curses's
chtype. I.e,

	bold | color_pair | char
	color_pair == (bg << 3 | fg)

To fix, this simply uses VGA color number everywhere except curses.c
internal. Then, convert it to above [RIGHT] format to write by
console_write_ch(). And as bonus, this reduces to expose curses define
to other parts (removes COLOR_* from console.c).

[Tested the first line is displayed as white on blue back for monitor
in curses console]

Markus Armbruster 70b9433109 QemuOpts: Wean off qerror_report_err()
qerror_report_err() is a transitional interface to help with
converting existing monitor commands to QMP. It should not be used
elsewhere.

The only remaining user in qemu-option.c is qemu_opts_parse(). Is it
used in QMP context? If not, we can simply replace
qerror_report_err() by error_report_err().

The uses in qemu-img.c, qemu-io.c, qemu-nbd.c and under tests/ are
clearly not in QMP context.

The uses in vl.c aren't either, because the only QMP command handlers
there are qmp_query_status() and qmp_query_machines(), and they don't
call it.

Remaining uses:

* drive_def(): Command line -drive and such, HMP drive_add and pci_add

* hmp_chardev_add(): HMP chardev-add

* monitor_parse_command(): HMP core

* tmp_config_parse(): Command line -tpmdev

* net_host_device_add(): HMP host_net_add

* net_client_parse(): Command line -net and -netdev

* qemu_global_option(): Command line -global

* vnc_parse_func(): Command line -display, -vnc, default display, HMP
  change, QMP change.  Bummer.

* qemu_pci_hot_add_nic(): HMP pci_add

* usb_net_init(): Command line -usbdevice, HMP usb_add

Propagate errors through qemu_opts_parse(). Create a convenience
function qemu_opts_parse_noisily() that passes errors to
error_report_err(). Switch all non-QMP users outside tests to it.

That leaves vnc_parse_func(). Propagate errors through it. Since I'm
touching it anyway, rename it to vnc_parse().

Paolo Bonzini 42af3e3a02 ui/console: remove dpy_gfx_update_dirty
dpy_gfx_update_dirty expects DIRTY_MEMORY_VGA logging to be always on,
but that will not be the case soon. Because it computes the memory
region on the fly for every update (with memory_region_find), it cannot

We could always treat updates as invalidations if dirty logging is

Markus Armbruster 3b5704b2f8 monitor: Make client_migrate_info synchronous
Live migration with spice works like this today:

  (1) client_migrate_info monitor cmd
  (2) spice server notifies client, client connects to target host.
  (3) qemu waits until spice client connect is finished.
  (4) send over vmstate (i.e. main part of live migration).
  (5) spice handover to target host.

(3) is implemented by making client_migrate_info a async monitor
command. This is the only async monitor command we have.

The original reason to implement this dance was that qemu did not accept
new tcp connections while the incoming migration was running, so (2) and
(4) could not be done in parallel. That issue was fixed long ago though.
Qemu version 1.3.0 (released Dec 2012) and newer happily accept tcp
connects while the incoming migration runs.

Time to drop step (3). This patch does exactly that, by making the
monitor command synchronous and removing the code needed to handle the
async monitor command in ui/spice-core.c

parameter instead, so it is possible to specify the server instance.

don't provide the new callback fallback to native 32 bpp which

Gerd Hoffmann 0d01b7ce61 sdl2: add+use sdl2_2d_redraw function.
Add a new sdl2_2d_redraw function for a complete screen refresh,
so we can stop using graphic_hw_invalidate for that. There is
no need to bother console / gfx emulation code if we are just
going to re-blit the screen after window resizes.

Gerd Hoffmann 0b2824e5e4 spice: use bottom half instead of refresh timer for cursor updates
Calling directly doesn't work due to the qxl-render code running in
spice server thread context. Meanwhile bottom half scheduling is
thread-safe though, so we can use that to kick a cursor update in
main i/o thread context.
